[SWLUG] New Server installing g++?

I am encountering more problems with my new server that I'd like help
with please.

I am installing Imagemagic and in the middle of the process it wont
install because g++ is apparent;y missing

locate g++ 
shows nothing at all.
gcc is there of course.

looking around i found

gcc-g++-4.0.2.tar.gz
which I upladed and unzipped but goodness knows how it installs. I am
wondering if I am barking up the wrong track with this upload.
