Hi Neil,

I have this problem if I've been dumb and forgotten to power up the
router after turning the modem on *g*. I use Xandros, which allows me
to go into the network, release and renew the IP for the PC and
everything is happy.

Depending what distro you use there should be a network section where
you can refresh the IP without rebooting.

I'm on NTL too in Barry. My modem usually takes 30 seconds to come up
fully online. Then again I don't use an NTL cablemodem having been on
broadband since before they gave them with the connections. Maybe
it's the modem and not the network?

Kind regards,

Julian
