mplayer can dump the stream out to a file. You can then encode that
stream to whatever format you want.
mplayer -dumpstream -dumpfile $filename http://some.stream.domain
that's off the top of my head so read the man page to make sure the
syntax is right. I think that dumps as Wav so lame should be able to
encode it to MP3.
