do keep in mind when using raid-0, raid-linear, or lvm that the moment
you span more than one disk you multiply the likelyhood of a disk
failure. if any one drive in the span fails you will loose the entire
partition.

so please do remeber to keep backups.

this is why i have now taken to using raid-mirror with pairs of
(non-identical) disks for anything where i value my data, as cheap
modern drives get increasingly likely to fail.
