gparted will arrange that for you, if you would like to do it graphically
Alt-F2 gksu gparted might land you in gparted
Once there, select the drive from the pull down box (top right ish)
then using context menu, unmount and format.

or something like:  mkdosfs  -F 32 device
if you'd like to use the terminal.
