my daughter has met linux here at my house, but her machine is also her 
mothers machine and since i'm not allowed across their threshold, i'm happy 
for them to stay win only so that i don't have to be phone support for a 
machine i rarely get to touch
my daughter has expressed an interest in building her own machine and 
installing for herself, so i'm getting together some oldish parts, installing 
both linux and win to make sure it all works and then wiping it and giving 
her the bits and the disks, best if any special hardware stay on the existing 
machine because linux driver troubleshooting could be messy :)
i'm glad you say the quality is good, there are quite a few cards/usb boxes at 
even lower price points but they all do tv tuner stuff as well so i'm 
assuming that there is a double quality hit - less money spent on more 
functions? it's the possibility of things like out of sync audio that bother 
me when i won't be there to help sort it.
