Dear All

Problem Solved - the easy way!!!

In Mandriva 2007 I insert a floppy but nothing happens. All I have to
do is open Konqueror and navigate to /mnt/floppy, which then makes the
computer read the floppy and content appears. Like magic!

I have not managed to achieve that degree of integration with Mandriva
2008, but I did achieve something as a result of Steve Hills comments.
Any improvement to the Mandriva 2007 method welcome but now I can at
least read/write to floppies.

The solution: Right click on desktop and chose "Create New", then "Link
to Device", then "Floppy Device", Device tab - choose "/dev/fdo
(/media/floppy)", OK. A new icon on desktop appears. Insert floppy,
double click icon, much reading of floppy drive, and konqueror opens
with content of floppy in /media/floppy.

Thanks to all

Stephen
