As I said, changing the board does work in a lot of cases, but when it
is your own money it would be pointless getting an exact model
replacement only to find out that the platters/heads are damaged.
However the first step as mentioned earlier is to use MHDD to see if you
can get the drive to acquire and read from it. As this is a linux/techie
discussion board I assume people have a higher than normal understanding
of electronics/computers.
