[SWLUG] long shot question re exilim digital camera

my problem is that the camera turns on only giving a 'system error' message, i
think that the problem might be that the internal storage has lost its
partition and boot sector details, the cam still works as a mass storage
device, i discovered that by dd'ing the firmware bin file to the root device
i can get the cam to display the firmware version, but then there is the
problem of creating the data partition, what is confusing is that the manual
speaks of a total of 12mb for internal storage but the firmware file is 2.5
mb leaving only 9.5 for a partition! nowhere in the manuals does it list the
partition structure nor give a dd dump of the internal disk :) i have tried
to flash the firmware from a card using the proper key presses, the cam finds
the bin file on the card, offers to update but errors at the end, so i'm
trying to restore the proper structure of the internal disk a) because that
might the problem and b) then try and flash the firmware from the internal
disk
