[SWLUG] distro for a non-technical friend

Hi guys,

I friend of mine has had a Win XP machine for years.  Usual stuff.  
Casual use, internet, email, occasional office-related things.  I'm 
trying to convince her to try out Linux, but she is not very technical 
at all.  Can anyone suggest a good starter distro for a complete 
newbie?  Obviously I'll install and configure it for her, but it needs 
to be simple to use and maintain.
