few things to try
If you have any apps that allow you to specify sound output (eg: vlc)
you could try selecting diffent sound output to see if there is any
difference
Try seting selinux to permissive (System->administration->selinux)
you may have a stale pulse-audio lock so you could try killing pulseaudio
then rm -rf /tmp/pulse*
then restarting pulsaudio (pulseaudio -D I think as user) - used to
have to do this often on F9 but not since
