Dear Chris and Peter and all

Good advice from both thanks.

I have installed these headers etc and downloaded and used the latest
drivers. Installation has concluded with nice messages:

stephanos at dell:~/dialup/linux/debian$ sudo dpkg -i
dgcmodem_1.10_k2.6.27_7_generic_ubuntu_i386.deb
(Reading database ... 139592 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace dgcmodem 1.01 (using
dgcmodem_1.10_k2.6.27_7_generic_ubuntu_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement dgcmodem ...
Setting up dgcmodem (1.10-k2.6.27-7-generic-1.ubuntu) ...
stephanos at dell:~/dialup/linux/debian$
stephanos at dell:~/dialup/linux/debian$

So I started KPPP and configured it as best I can. But when I got to
the part where I have to state the modem device I had a lot of choices
and do not know where to start. I use this modem with my laptop and
the location is /dev/ttyACMO (Kubuntu 8.04). I tried this but no modem
recognised when I press the "Query Modem" button. There are a lot to
chose from so I am hoping there is a better/quicker way to locate the
device.

Assuming it is installed after all

Any further help appreciated

Stephen
