Hello All,
We have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Linux
systems engineer to get involved supporting the research of
neuropsychiatric genetics.
Based in the University’s flagship Hadyn Ellis Building, you will be
part of a systems engineering team of 3 computing experts responsible
for supporting the cutting-edge data science and genetics research
carried out by the Division and the MRC Centre. To this end, the team
manages local Linux-based infrastructure in collaboration with the
University’s advanced research computing facility ARCCA – currently
including multi-petabyte storage, computer resources with over 500
cores, DevOps tools and collaboration services such as a gitlab and
wiki. The team also promotes best practice in software development and
open science to over 100 researchers.
You should be able to demonstrate significant experience and skills in
Linux system administration, DevOps tools and version control (git) use
in addition to effective programming and debugging skills in at least
one relevant language (e.g. Python, R or Bash). Knowledge and experience
of open source software development, data security, data science tools
and/or genetics will be highly desirable – the successful candidate can
also expect their knowledge in these areas to significantly increase
whilst in the role.
