Thanks, Marcus. It'll probably be some while before I actually get to it. I think our lives are almost parallel with little to no time. No kids here (though there might be some running around countries of the former USSR that I don't know about).
The plan (such as it is) is long on hopes and short on essentials. I have what I assume would be the best bits for a winged drone with a motor, some non BMS lithium batteries, a pi 3B+ and the various hats etc needed to make it all come together. So far the Pi on its own is running well. It's running via a USB socket in my DIY RV (old school bus that I converted to an RV). I have a 7" screen running off a USB power source, bluetooth mouse and keyboard. I tried working on it via VNC and it works but I wanted a direct connection with no wifi.
I have two laptops - the one I'm writing this email on which runs Linux Mint. The other runs Raspbian Buster but the wifi won't work on that - which is fine. I can code for the Pi on that and just transfer the code. At the moment though I'm using it in my work breaks to write my 3rd book. 1st two were on photography. This one's not.
Since I was last at an SWLUG meeting, life has taken some very interesting turns and curves that led me to different countries doing very different things. None, sadly, to do with coding. I was lured out to the USA with the promise of coding work in 2005. That wasn't true and after a few more curves that included living with an extremely challenging lady I'm now living where I am (without her). It has been quite character building!
