[Swlug] Mint v Chromium

I am using chromium. I was under the impression it was Google Chrome repackaged for Linux Mint. It's the only one that came up when I typed "chrome" in the software manager.
I have restarted the system twice since the Chromium freeze - once when I restarted straight after the freeze and once when an update requested it.
How do I access the system logs?
I had a look at tops and saw several instances of Chromium as they opened and closed. Nothing marked as "chromium" seems to persist after closing chromium - at the moment.

I thought it was Chromium that gives the problem, or are you saying it
also happens with Chrome. There are significant differences.
On the system hang, if you look in syslog after doing a hard reset you
may well get a clue about what is going on.
