[Swlug] Freeing space on my SSD

I do 90% of the things I want to on one of my two Asus laptops. Both were sold with Windows on them. Windows lasted long enough on the first laptop for me to download Linux mint.

Anyway, both laptops have an SD slot, a USB C and the usual USB A. 

I'm running out of space on my e203ma and want to transfer my user account data to SD card in order to free the SSD for actual programs and the OS. Transferring the downloads folders would be good too. I'm not sure how big of an SD card I can use but it'd be worth getting a big one in order to do this.

Is this relatively easy to do and if so, how?
