[Swlug] Books

I had no idea that Hay on Wye had faded into obscurity. That was supposed to be the book town.

I am stunned at how book shops have all but vanished and that the quality and quantity of books in them has plummeted alarmingly.

I'll have to see how the 1972 book I ordered compares to the transistors I have. If it covers them all I shall be very happy. I don't have many ICs but I have the data sheets for those anyway. I'll have to download the sheets for the shift registers I just bought.

I seem to be more using electronic components and dedicated circuits with microcontroller chips rather than using micro controller boards and plug-in peripherals. I'm waiting for some 2W resistors to arrive so that I can rebuild the zener voltage regulator that I blew up last week. When they arrive then I will replace the Raspberry Pi Pico and relay board that's currently operating the 20 foot LED flasher (and has been for the last 2 years) with an ATTiny13 or ATTiny85 with a voltage regulator and a 2n3904 transistor. It's just going to be a smaller, neater affair with one project box. 12v goes in one end and 12v relay control comes out the other. Much simpler than a Pico on breadboard with a voltage converter on the board plus other test bits and a relay board plus all the wiring to power each board etc. Just straight in and straight out. Timing control is provided by the charge controller.
