[Swlug] Books

Perhaps I was a bit out of line suggesting Hay on Wye had faded into obscurity. I haven't been there for a long time but have fond memories of wandering through seemingly endless stacks of books.

I've ordered a 1972 transistor book from Abebooks. I was going to download all the spec sheets and then I realised just how many types of transistors I have so I stopped right there! I bought a multipack with 10 each of about 30 different types. Since then I have also acquired a few more different types.

I do have a download of the 555 spec sheet. I have built one of the circuits but need to failt-find now.

Faded into obscurity is a bit excessive. Several smaller bookshops have gone, but enough remain that it is still fair to call it a booktown. I have long found it poor for computing and electronics, but that is more about speed of change.
You might find simple references like that below useful and keep in mind most transistors are in families. This is easier to see with the European naming system eg bc546/547/548/549/550 npn family and bc556/557/558/559/560 equivalent pnp family.

There is also a nice piece on the 555 timer on the same site.
