Sadly, that didn't work either

rhys at Apollo:~$ mmc extcsd read /dev/mmcblk1
open: No such file or directory
rhys at Apollo:~$ sudo mmc extcsd read /dev/mmcblk1
[sudo] password for rhys:
open: No such file or directory
rhys at Apollo:~$

I just checked on the disk name and it seems correct
rhys at Apollo:~$ lsblk -o "NAME,MAJ:MIN,RM,SIZE,RO,FSTYPE,MOUNTPOINT,UUID"

I'd like to try to keep this going without buying new components for it as then it becomes better to buy a new one. Quite honestly this has done way better than my 2007 Macbook which was dead by 2014 since I've had it 8 years. The cost difference $200 as opposed to $1,000 approx.

It is somewhat interesting to note that the cheapest Macbook Air which is more akin to the kind of Asus I buy having solid state storage has plummeted in cost. I paid $1,000 or could be $1,200 back in 2007 for the base model Macbook. A Macbook Air is $1,000 for the base model represents a cost drop over 15 years of about 1.8% a year based on inflation.

While I say I work 12 hours a day, much of that is just unpaid sitting around. As some of you know, I drive state schoolbusses in SC though I'm trying to get onto the teacher training programme. Today I have a paid day off because they went virtual for attendance due to the current storm (heavy rain, high winds and threat of tornadoes). This week I've been sitting around mainly between 9:45am and 1:45pm as my usual midday runs are both suspended. And of course I can be given a route description and thrown on any special needs bus route at any time.

Yes, I can easily afford a new Asus or even a new Macbook but I like to eke the last drop of blood out of every penny. As I drive a lot, I try not to drive when I don't have to so I am trying to avoid a trip to Best Buy to get a new Asus. It's not the fuel ($2.75 a gallon) - it's just that because I drive for work, I don't want to in my time off.
