That book does look interesting. I'll have to see about picking up a copy.
Currently I've been testing power consumption of my assorted microcontrollers. The best is the ATTiny88 which uses 8ma. The ATTiny85 is reported to use 2ma.
I'm working still on the emergency morse beacon. I'm trying to get it all to run off a pair of 60ma 5v solar cells. Under full sun I get 120ma and can run the ES32 C3 Supemini microcontroller. Under cloudy conditions that just cannot get enough power from the panels. I'll change to the ATTiny85 soon. I just need to order one or two. That's not a priority.
I have a 1 chip Morse transmitter. That works. I'll have to see how much power it uses next.
This is a fascinating project. The coding is very simple C++. The electrics are very interesting too. I'm also going to make use of my 3D printer. It's going to be a complete product. I have another variant that will be completed also. That's just straight electronics, no microcontroller.
