Dear SWLUG member,

Thank you for your responses. Key take aways:-

a) Needs to be central Cardiff.

b) Price £25-35 acceptable.

c) A partner does not seem to be an issue.

d) Turkey and tinsel is not required.

e) My caution with "Indian" had some support..

f) "e" also raises the question of hot chilli for a mixed group.

Focussing on the Cardiff central area these are those I considered and
my comments.

*Las Iguanas* (Mexican) Christmas menu £30

There are some vegetarian choices, but may be better with a la carte.
The target price seems achievable, but does depend on choices. I was a
little concerned that it could be a little chilli heavy and might be a
bit too loud, but I have no personal experience.

*Viva Brasil *Christmas menu £45*
*

Some vegetarian, but generally meat heavy. A la carte gives options
within price target, but dependent on choices. No personal experience.

*La Monde*

set menu £29-42. Described as Galician/Spanish brasserie style.
Vegetarians go hungry. Mixed reviews. No personal experience.

*The Sorting Room* (Parkgate Hotel)

Conventional dining. Limited vegetarian options. Choices are possible,
but many exceed the price target. As well as price I have concerns this
might be a little too formal. May want £10 deposit per head.

*Cote*  Christmas menu £40, but a'la carte options are available within
price target.

French style dining. Chain, but good standard that I have used
elsewhere. Limited vegetarian options. As well as price I have concerns
this might be a little too formal.

*Lezzet Turkish Kitchen* Most within target price, a few choices exceed.

Some vegetarian options. Mixed platters with sundries are common for
groups. This a smaller operation so there could be issues with booking.
No personal experience.

*Vegetarian Food Studio* £25 last year

Used in previous years. A'la carte options within target price, but care
with chilli. Plenty of vegetarian options, but nothing for carnivores.

As before these are my comments. Personally I think focus on the last two.

Kindest Regards

Alan Gray
