If you're organising, I wouldn't over think it.  In previous years when 
I've organised the christmas meal, I've just picked a venue and a time 
and gone with it,

You might find it hard to book somewhere this late.

So I'd just pick somewhere and get the email out.  People can pick and 
choose based on that.  You won't keep everyone happy, that's impossible.

Finally, SWLUG is not a democracy.  If you want to arrange something, do 
it and see what people fancy.  Also anyone can arrange something, 
there's no organisers or committee.  I'm repeating this as it doesn't 
get said that often, but it is the case.
