Here is the Ampache project I was talking about to the group the other day:

I have ampache running on my server as an mp3 server for work use. The
latest build uses XSPF and a flash player so you are not tied in to
using any particular player.

Re: The Java game - I have seen things like this built in Flash. The
Java app does work but does rely on users having the JRE properly set
up. There is a certain inevitability that most users would have
flashplayer installed.
