Jonathan,

It's possible that whatismyip.net is showing up a proxy ip address. Some
ISP's put their users behind web proxies.

The IP address shown by your router should be the correct address.

Have you tried resetting the router? It sounds odd that you can't even
manage it externally considering you've ticked the box. I'd also look for
firmware updates.
