Macs use Open Firmware to boot. I've had a good hunt round and posted  
my issue on the Ubuntu forum. I can't find a reference to a yaboot  
flag/command to boot without monitor, tho it might be out there  
somewhere...

This was the reply to my suggestion OF was a form of BIOS! (See the
