 I'm doing a little work in that direction myself with the STX GNU/Linux
distribution: http://stibs.cc/stx/ Oldest system we currently have it
running on is a 75Mhz K5 with 64MB of RAM. You might also be interested
in the LowTech project: http://www.lowtech.org/ and the London Hacklabs
Collective: http://hacklab.org.uk/

 Once an STX release with the new installer system is complete 
(  http://blog.mikeasoft.com/index.php?s=stx ) I intend to get in
contact with both groups over the use of it. Perhaps you and I would
also like to organise something in this direction?
