Windows doesn't set write permission to shared directories by default, so
if you set the directory as shared, without delving deeper, that might be
the cause of the problem. The following instructions should ensure the
correct setup of permissions so one can read and write to the shared
Windows directory:
1. In a Windows Explorer window, right-click on the file and click
'Properties'.
2. Click the 'Sharing' tab, then 'Share this folder' radio button (if done
so already and then the 'Permissions' button.
3. In the dialog, there should be an entry labeled 'Everyone' in the
'Group or user names' list box. In the 'Permissions for Everyone' list
box, check the 'Change' or 'Full Control' check boxes under the 'Allow'
column.
4. Click 'OK' and 'OK' again.
You may have you remount the drive in Linux. Enter 'mount -a' in the
console to make sure.
Hope that helps. As I say,
