78? That's enough to allow one reply before it starts
wrapping! That should your maximum (see RFC2882 1.2.2:
   "Each line of characters MUST be no more than
    998 characters, and SHOULD be no more than
    78 characters, excluding the CRLF.)"

RFC1855 (Netiquette guidelines) offers:
    "Limit line length to fewer than 65 characters and end a line
     with a carriage return."

Which is about right, sez I.

Anyway, as Dan notes, you don't seem to have anything set!
(unless it's 998, and you haven't hit it yet)
