Does anybody out there happen to have a spare ipod-3g
   unit?  [even if it doesn't fully work, e.g. battery
   or hdd or headphone-socket broken]?

I asked on freecycle to no-response...

I'm trying to run Rockbox and/or ipodLinux -- I even
   made up a 1.8inch -- compactflash adapter, but the
   ipod-3g unit I acquired doesn't work right!

Help ;-).

I may well be at the meeting on Monday, btw... ;-).
