Thanks to Simon Iremonger I found out that the problem with changing the
router address is that if you change the network address by 1 or 2 it
thinks that the new address is clashing with the address of one of the
WiFi guest networks. So, instead of changing the default address
192.168.0.1 to 192.168.2.1 for my network, first change it to something
like 192.168.30.1 which it accepts, then it reboots, then change it to
what you actually want. Then it reboots again. It's a bit like
installing windows.

After that you can put in your port forwards etc., set up your WiFi SSID
and password, and any guest WiFi networks you need.

What I could not find was anywhere to specify DNS server addresses, but
I think I set these up on the computers. Whatever, it all now seems to
be working.

I had the usual annoyances with dynamic IP addressing so for some hours
while I went out the Internet didn't know where to send my email, but I
hope I've sorted that out and messages are now trickling in again.

So, no, it doesn't appear to be as comprehensive as a proper router but
it looks like it has enough for me, so long as it keeps working.....
