It is a cache of  the thumbnail images for Konqueror to display when 
previewing  a file.  If a thumbnail exosts it is displayed, if not one is 
generated and saved in this directory tree for future use.  It falls down if 
you delete files outside of Konquerer as the matching thumbnail will not be 
deleted.
