Hi
I have the next week off school so I have undertaken to sort out all =
those little things on my system which I have not got round to! But I =
need a few pointers: -
1) Anyone know of a good tutorial or howto on setting up local DNS using =
BIND9
2a) Anyone got any ideas of read/write nfs access with Debian as mine is =
read-only even with /etc/exports having lines such as /my_docs 10.1.0.1 =
(rw,no_root_squash
2b) again with nfs, mine spills out loads of crap when you exportfs =
about sync and async or summut (need more info?) and ideas?
3) Is it possible to turn off the mass of sh*t that debian spits out =
everytime you login??
4) imap mail, which client is the best, uw-imapd, cyrus or courier. I =
need pop3 access to parts of the imap dir structure, imap was used last =
time someone configed my sys.
For the benefit of those newer than myself to the WolvesLUG mailing list =
here is a bit about me.
I am a student in wolves studying for my A-Levels!! Hoping to go off to =
uni in september to study Lighting Design and get pissed!
I run 2 linux boxes at home, both running debian (testing). 1 box acts =
as my desktop machine 1.2GHz box (dual boots Win2k as well) and 2nd box =
(233Mhz) is my web server, file server, mail server (when its configed), =
router and gateway. Using a blue yonder cable conection (512/128).
I have been using linux on and off for abput 2 months but well am still =
learning, getting better!
Many Thanks and Hello
Rob Smith
