Many thanks to Chris and Dan for the advice on Subnet masks. One of my =
network cards had been setup to be 255.255.0.0 while all of the others =
were 255.255.255.0 as you correctly surmised. Now I have my laptop =
back, I was able to check it, and it now seems that I can access all of =
the machines.
Next stop LAMP. Then the fun really begins :~?
