[Wolves] Second hard drive wierdness.

I'll try to keep it brief.

Installed Linux (RH8) on system with one HD - installed onto HDC (stuck
it on the wrong ide interface!) but worked ok.
Added spare drive on HDB (pre used for Linux RH8) and apart from having
to get rid of labels in fstab, worked ok. (this drive has / hdb1 /user
hdb2 /swop hdc3)

Moved both drives into a new pc.
Boots perfick if only hdd fitted.
Add hdb and get 'errors on / filesystem' and dies.

Edit fstab to remove :
/dev/hdb2 /home/user/name which was mounting the spare drive.
Plug in drive and boots ok.

Can then
 mount /dev/hda2 /home/user/name

and drive mounts ok and seems usable .

Any ideas wtf is going on?
I've even used fdisk to remove / partition (hdb1) from the spare drive.
