Without wishing to get involved in the developing flamage if you are going
to inline your comments can you leave a blank line between the quoted part
and your comment, and the another one after it. Sometimes quoted lines get
wrapped differently on sending and receiving stations (it depends on screen
resolution, window sizes, and maybe the client used) meaning that sometimes
a line may appear without the '>' but still be part of the quote (because
its wrapped from the line above). 

If you reply without a blank line it is sometimes tricky to determine wether
your comments are quoted lines wrapped badly, or interesting and insightful
additions to the discourse. It also means double quoted stuff like that
above is tricky to follow if you havn't read and remembered the whole tread
(can you tell at first glance who said "width, but I have"?).

If you are inlining then whitespace is your friend.
