I actually met one of my housemates through Linux washing powder.

My friend is German, and I used to live opposite him such that our 
gardens were connected together. You could see his box of Linux so 
consequently I figured out who he was in my department, and finally 
ended up living with him and some others in the following year.

So Linux really can unite people in funny ways.
