I was trying to build a firewall out of an old Tosh laptop with 1 
Netgear & 1 3com PCMCIA network cards recently. It worked fine with 
either card alone but neither were recognised if they were both fitted.

I'd remove any other card from the other slot to make sure there are no 
conflicts.
