I'd guess to save the module settings you need to edit /etc/modules.conf
(or /etc/modprobe.conf whcih might be a kernel 2.6.X ism).

Or add a line into one of the startup scripts to load the emu module
(/sbin/modprobe emu10k1)

I have (as an example )

root at david:~# cat /etc/modprobe.conf

# --- BEGIN: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. ---
# --- ALSACONF verion 1.0.5 ---
alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
alias sound-slot-0 snd-intel8x0
# --- END: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. ---

and an empty /etc/modoules.conf.

Running 2.6.6 kernel on Slackware 10.

I'm fairly sure "alsaconf" generated the /etc/modprobe.conf file for me.

David.
