Yes well... last week I checked McAfee AV out on my Win2k box - the
kids and my wife use it mainly.  McAfee found a couple of trojans, a
virus (netsky) and a dialler.  This was despite having AVG on it bang
up to date.   If it wasn't for the fact that I have some software that
will not run on Linux I would ditch the Microsoft stuff outright.  I
much prefer Linux now.
