I've tried to do the same thing at work, although I was concentrating on
the "one source, many formats" argument and the fact that you can
sensibly store it in version control (yes you can store Word documents,
but you can't easily diff/merge).
Although the idea sold well, the practicalities have so far prevented us
from adopting it - there simply aren't good enough end-user tools for
doing markup yet...
