The phrase 'full install' suggests a default full install as in the
largest of the standard installation choices. A default full install of
6 gig is just silly.
You can't have every different MTA's installed and installing several
different web servers isn't a sane choice for many people. My current
system takes up around 15gig but that's with lots of old logs, hundreds
of different libs (including several versions of some devel versions)
and a years worth of work and play development, and shedloads of media
files including every lugradio (and more than one version of several),
oh and not forgetting a couple of pretty big games (such as et). If
this was a Red Hat system it wouldn't fit on my 20 gig harddrive ;-)
Shipping with lots of choice and installing lots of crap are two very
different things and full install suggests a bloated 'default' full
install.
Having the option to install lots of different things is good but really
installing them shouldn't happen on most systems. There are still
systems out there that perform a similar function to RHE and fit on a
single cd! The maximum one of those distros would (potentially) have
about a gig or so for a maximum install.
Why is RHE so big? You can't think 6 gig is a sensible footprint for
any distro can you?
