[Wolves] More Ubuntu woes

I've just tried my live Ubuntu cd in the dedicated Linux box. Well,
at least this time it didn't try to access the hard drive :-))) It
all seemed well as I watched the very unwindows coloured splash
screen. Then there was a click and all went blank. The cd was still
whirring but nothing on screen. It eventually stopped with nothing to
show. So, rebooted and tried a different screen size - 800x600 this
time as I'm guessing there is a display server problem. It did it
again, same blank screen. So, tried the safe mode and..........yet
again exactly the same. Just bear in mind that this particular PC
runs SuSE 9.1 and Mandrake 10 very well indeed.
Now forgive me for saying this but if I were a total Linux newbie
instead of a well seasoned no nothing newbie :-)))) I would, at this
point, be throwing the cd away and saying that Linux is rubbish. My
feeling is that after having two problems on two separate machines -
one old, one relatively new - Ubuntu might do more harm to Linux's
reputation than good.
I've not completely given up yet as I shall soon have a spare drive to
try the full install on. Which, needing less memory should hopefully
work.... fingers crossed.
