I use to work on Digital OpenVMS systems. This story came from an 
engineer who had worked as second-line support to their help desk, 
specialising in the print and batch job queueing sub-system. New 
graduates destined for tech. support jobs were exposed to a wide range 
of problems by being used as help-desk cannon-fodder. A caller would 
phone in  their problem to the newbie who would log a description of the 
problem and pass it to the relevant support group. A lot of programmers 
had difficulty with the QUE$ system library so my guy was very 
accustomed to late nights debugging code that was trying to manipulate 
queue entries. He was very surprised therefore to get a call passed to 
him about a library routine that he hadn't ever used before. After 
spending a significant time searching for something relevant in the 20 
volume manual set he realised why he was having so much trouble locating 
the queue "Brute" function.
