As long as the 486s aren't really old. You may not want to play this 
game with an ancient BIOS if you are in a hurry - booting from floppies, 
low boot addresses etc.
I'd throw the good gear at the problem and recycle the historic kit at a 
later date.

I was given some good advice recently: When an auditor asks you a 
question, answer exactly what you were asked, truthfully, then stop 
talking. Any information you volunteer just opens up new lines of 
investigation.

Don't ever think that you can manipulate an audit to make good things 
happen. Your idea of good will be perverted by several levels of 
misunderstanding before it comes back to you as an unrecognisable 
monster that wants to consume your soul, probably as unpaid over-time.
