It looks like the remote server will not allow you to change the
permissions or time stamp on the file you have just uploaded. This may
be due to the filename(s), or a (sensible) limitation on the server. In
gftp, Click on FTP, Options and clear the "Preserve file time" and
"Preserve file permissions" checkboxes.
As to clearing the current (dead) connections, well you could always
reboot reboot instead of waiting for the connection to timeout...
