You can tell google to search a specific site with the
phrase

site:mailman.lug.org.uk <search terms>

I use that all the time with the search terms Wolves
(for our LUG mailing list - the site directive doesn't
seem to like having specified directories ie
/pipermail/wolves) and whatever I'm trying to find on
our mailing list.

You can get google search buttonms for your site, I'm
sure you could fiddle the code easily enough to search
just your site. Or you could use htdig, but as you say
I think that needs a database.

Just to tie up another few issues so I don't write 3
mails on one thread, bmps aren't liked by browsers per
se ('cept IE I think) as they are large files. gifs,
pngs (a patent free replacement for gifs) are
preferable for graphics and jpgs are preferable for
photos or high colour images.

I'm a novice web designer (note: not developer ;) too,
look at my site for chrissakes! It was started in
Frontpage Express about 5 years ago, then Frontpage,
then Dreamweaver and the general design and structure
has changed little since the beginning. All flat,
static pages (note to self: CMS. CMS. CMS. One day).
I've done a bit of tinkering in Nvu recently since I
stopped using Windows.

I just wrote out a big 'My thoughts on what I would
really like in Nvu' thing here and then decided t
would be more useful on the Nvu devel forums, so I
posted it there and you can see it at
