Does anyone have a clue what I'm talking about? I certainly don't!

I mentioned at the last couple of LUG meetings that I'm going to be
doing some process mapping for 6 months. I've inheritted some process
maps that look very like flow-charts so I think I'm going to move to UML
Activity diagrams. Any comments on whether that is a good idea?

My tool options are PowerPoint (my manager's favourite but I can't say
I'm keen!), Visio with a UML 2 template add-on (looks good but it does
not support the portable XMI standard - for obvious reasons) and DIA or
Umbrello on Linux but neither seem to have moved to UML v2 yet.

Does anyone know any better tools or why UML would be a very bad idea?
In an ideal worl I would have looked harder at the Riva method but I'm
not sure the people I'll be working with are quite ready for the idea of
instantiating a diagram.

I've got this book on order

I'm locked in a room with Bill's 3 biggest fans. Please help! OK, I lied
about the lock.
