[Wolves] usb stick and suse

Anybody here had any bad experiences with usb sticks and SuSE?

I was merrily copying to and from it and then everything hung up. When
it caught up it had erased a bunch of folders (not ones related to the
items I was copying) and created some odd zero k folders with mashed
up names.

Lost some work. Not happy.

Any ideas how to avoid it?
