With any company they have to look to increasing revenue for
shareholders. The only way a BB company can do this is by increasing
its user base. If that user base is the next stage of BB uptakers and
they are sitting tight then the company have to think of sweeteners.
Price cuts, speed increases etc. If the first round of sweeteners
don't have much success then they try something different. PlusNet
have had to do this to entice more customers. A few months ago they
announced £14.99 per month BB at 2mb download (max) speed. This was
obviously not enough to bring in swathes of new customers or migrators
so they have now waived all connection fees for new customers. These
fees are only payable on a sliding rate if you leave Plusnet within 5
years.
It's a good deal and I'm very, very tempted now. In fact within the
next few weeks I think they will have themselves a new customer. Oh,
did I mention they do not have any set in stone caps just sensible
use. Which is not there idea of stupid sensible use either :-)
