You need a bit of xorg.conf trickery but it is getting quite easy now.

Previously my IBM Thinkpad used to work out if I had dual monitors or
not and not let my mouse drift off into the ether but nowdays (since
Breezy) I have 2 xorg.conf files in /etc/X11

xorg.conf.singlehead
xorg.conf.dualhead

and I have to copy the correct file to xorg.conf before starting gdm
which is a little annoying but it basically works

I have dual screens working nicely with different resolutions
